Pets and Personalities

I won’t deny that my 4 year old Birman, Boo, is FABulous (and handsome) but I get to add talented now! Boo has decided that he would prefer to sleep on top of television. He simply jumps up and lands on the tv pirouettes and lays down…sometimes even changing channels in the process (the controls are there). I’d love to know what special talents your beloved pets have…please comment with your pet’s ‘prowess’ and I’ll award top prize with a mini-talent photo session! (Below is Boo fell asleep watching The Bodyguard. I’ll admit that Kevin Costner can put me to sleep too!)

Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital

This Thursday, February 9th, I’ll be on hand with the staff at Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital for their Open House from 6-8 pm. This Open House is being held to allow the community to come in to meet the staff and tour their state of the art facility. With both an Equine side and a small animals side there’s a lot to see!

What’s more is there will be a silent auction with a wide assortment of items to bid on AND bring your 4-legged family members along too because for a minimum donation of $10 you can step into my Pet Photo Booth bay and receive a FREE DOWNLOAD of your pet to mark the occasion!  All proceeds going  to Carver/Scott Humane Society. (Images shown below are from previous pet photo booth sessions)

wilson

Wilson is a new friend of mine. He’s a sweet, sweet lab mix. Sadly, Wilson is dying. His cancer returned. Rather than put him through all the rigors of treatment for this aggressive cancer, a second time, his owner chose to allow Wilson to enjoy his remaining days. When I got the call no one was certain of how much time Wilson had left so I placed his “Tribute Session” on the calendar right away and headed over. This was a very mild, gentle session.  Wilson, while battling his cancer, was a trooper.  This session was arranged by a close friend of the owner as a surprise (Thank You, Amber!) so we needed to work quickly as she was being kept away from her home to allow us to get inside so I could capture Wilson.  He was such a good boy. He will leave a huge hole. Makes my heart swell that I can provide folks with beautiful, lasting images of their beloved animals.

Tuckaway Farm :: Pet Photographer

WOW! This was a big one!  Headed south to Northfield (yea, I know, sounds silly…I guess it’s North of some cities but then I don’t live on a “Prairie” either!)…moving along…as I was saying, I headed down to Northfield to meet Danise and her 80 acres of critters. 20 horses, 5 dogs, 5 cats and a donkey…yep, a donkey!  We met up in the drive and introduced ourselves and then we began the grand tour of the property, paddocks, sheds and barns to size up the shoot. It was a gorgeous, sunny day! Bright blue sky, the wind break on the property was nearly at peak color and I couldn’t wait to get started! Forgive me for not remembering everyone’s names but this was no ordinary session! Danise has two mares that will give birth about a month apart of one another in the spring and I’ll be returning to capture the foals. Oh, the joy! Thank you Danise for such a memorable afternoon!  I must add that this was not an ordinary session. I am happy to custom fit your beloveds into a time frame that will best suit you and represent your extended family! Give me a jingle and I’ll provide a quote on sessions requiring more than 1 hour! Leader Dog Program::Service Dogs

Earlier this year my brother (Tim) and his wife (Laurie) put in for their 2nd Leader Dog puppy. They went to Michigan to pick him (Luke) up just a couple of weeks ago on November 5th.  He is aDORable! I recall, from just a year ago when they flew back to Michigan to return Rex (their 1st LD puppy) after a year of puppy training, that they were uncertain that they would do that again. A very tough thing to love on a puppy for nearly a year only to release him back to the  organization for further training…in most cases never to see them again. Broken hearts, I tell you…sadness swept through my family as we were all affected by this amazing animal in the short time he was here. Rex went on to be paired with a lovely gentleman and has his own facbook page!  I also recall telling Tim & Laurie that perhaps they would make fabulous trainers and would find it within themselves to give it another go one day. Late this summer they let us all in on their decision to train another puppy. I’d like to introduce you to Luke and let you know that I will be following his progress and sharing his journey over the course of the next 11 months. Meet Rex’s nephew, Luke:

Giving Back :: Unique Pet Photography

On Saturday, December 3rd, I’ll be hanging out at Boo’s Vet (Anderson Lakes Animal Hospital) photographing folks with their pets in fun, photo booth style! This time of year there will be plenty of opportunities to have your pet’s photo taken with Santa but I thought…why not just capture your pet and YOU?! I’m teaming up with Anderson Lakes Animal Hospital for their Customer Appreciation Day to raise some dough for a really terrific organization called The Pet Project. The Pet Project “helps to keep pets and their caregivers together by providing pet food, pet supplies and access to veterinary care to those who are struggling”. I love that. Keeping pets and their owners together through tough times.  For a minimum donation (ALL proceeds go to The Pet Project!) of $10 you’ll receive a 5×7 print (mailed to you)! It’s that simple. Oh, and you don’t have to be a customer to come and have your pet’s photo taken….ALL are welcome!

Details: Saturday December 3rd from 9:00am – 1:00pm for our Customer Appreciation Day! Anderson Lakes Animal Hospital will be offering refreshments, drawings for gift certificates, and gift bags of goodies for you and your 4-legged friends, along with a coupon good for 20% off a new patient exam!

More Information:  Call Anderson Lakes Animal Hospital (952) 942-5506 ~ 8787 Columbine Road Eden Prairie, MN 55344 or contact me!

Cats loved to be photographed!

This little darling just wandered into our shoot. I think she was wishing that she could be next…so….I made it so!   =^..^= Thanks, Patches!

Stella :: Metro Area Pet Photography!

Pugs. Not a fan yet? Guess what….NOW you are. Meet 4 month old Stella. Hillary, Brad, Stella and I hit French Park on Wednesday night for a sweet, wild session. Amidst the running, sniffing, jumping and licking we managed to harness several heart melting moments. LOVE her! While these sessions are focused around your pet, in the end, I can never seem to resist getting everyone in on the love for a couple shots before we wrap. I guarantee a minimum of 20 hard proofs for you to keep. Complete pricing information for your pet’s portrait session is located HERE.

A Horse is a Horse (of course of course!)

Our beloved pets come in all shapes and sizes.  Don’t think that I wouldn’t understand your over~sized obsession!

Toggle…

Kate (and Tom) phoned me a few weeks ago and told me that their beloved Toggle had been diagnosed with Leukemia. My heart sank as I took in the news. Kate went on to explain that their vet informed them that historically, once diagnosed, 6 months is the longest survival time frame recorded. Well, as you can imagine, I didn’t want to waste a second. I joined the three of them at their home for a special tribute session with Toggle. I first met and photographed Toggle on Kate & Tom’s wedding day 2 years ago. They wouldn’t NOT have him there!

This will be a nice healing piece for them one day. Thank you, Kate & Tom, for sharing these moments with me and allowing me to capture Toggle.
